The reclining Buddha temple at Wat Pho is the oldest temple in Bangkok. It has the largest figure of Buddha, 150feet and it is covered with a gold plate. It depicts the figure of Buddha who lay down during his illness before attaining pairi nirvana. Some thing which really attracted me in this temple is that one is not allowed to wear shoes inside the temple and so near the entrance there is a big bin with orange coloured plastic bags and one removes the footwear and carries it in the bag and near the exit one wears this and keeps the empty bag in another bin. Such a neat system and no crowding of shoes and slippers outside the temple. May be in the Hindu temple shoes since they are made of animal leather cannot be taken inside and hence one has to leave them outside..
