Leaving Las Vegas we now travel to Mammoth lake on 21st August, 2017, at a distance of 276 miles. In between was miles and miles of desert with sand dunes and a place called death valley. For the first time I was scared for we had travelled for nearly forty to fifty miles all alone and there was not a single car or a soul visible on the road and as far as the eyes could see there was just an expanse of wilderness and desert and empty ness. I called my elder son and asked him as to where he had asked us to go for I was not at all feeling safe and if the trip was worth it. I just could not imagine what will happen if the tank ran out of gas or the car broke down. This is the first time that I saw miles of wilderness and no life even on the roads . It was amazing that the phones were working. However, as soon as we reached the sand dunes we could see few cars and people. After the desert and sand dunes we again enter a mountain region with pine trees and greenery around. Our hotel owner told us Mammoth lake area is called the Switzerland of America.
