The Strip in daylight is also filled with a lot of tourists, some performers and people just walking around. The absence of neon lights outside is made up with lights in the casino's . Some of these are so huge that one can get lost. Came across some new terms like Gold diggers and Hookers here . It is interesting to see many girls scantily clad move around hotels in big heels and obscene clothes. They move around freely and I felt sad to see them in such high heels which must have been so uncomfortable. It made me think a lot on notions of beauty and who had defined it and why are women forced to accept these norms. It is a pity that these women have to be so uncomfortable to earn their living dressing this way. Prostitution is illegal here but I saw lot of advertisements in taxis for escorts services. I am sure there would be some studies on this issue and I should look for them.
As a feminist historian working on South Asian history for the past forty years, I went back into the past and started thinking of my various Journeys in to life and through life. This blog would then give a peep into history and the different civilizations, cultures and the people that one comes across in this journey. I do not keep these in chronological order, but the Journey the place becomes the focus.

With my Students during the WWC
These are the pictures of my studetsn at the inauguration of the WWc. They all wore coloured dressess fron their region and we had Assam, Nagaland, Ketrala, China, Iran and Sikkim. My brother Col Prakash Tewari worked with the Jindals and they had givven us some funds for this Congress.
The Chairs of the earlier Congress
All the earlier Women's World Congress Chairs gather at the Women's World Congress 2014-India.
This was the making of history with past present and future Chairs of Womens WORLD Congress.
This one of my favourite photographs of the Women's World Congress 2014-India.Standing with the earlier Chairs past and future. Now I understand all the efforts that go into making the congress a reality. Some times I would get up at night sweating and asking my self will I be able to manage this. How did I get into this? There was no money no Government support at the Centre or state, no funds with the University and I would have nightmares. One night I got up with a very bad dreamI had to pay so much money to Hitech convention Centre as rental and they have sent me a court notice and I have to sell my house and every thing to pay this. That night I took a decision and met our VC the next day and told him I am not able to get any funds and hence I want to shift this Congress to the University. We may not have a five star conference but at least I will be able to manage with the minimum amount for I do not have to pay 97 lakh as rentals for three days.
In the end this turned out to be a better decision and one which was the best for with the registration fees we could manage lunches , morning abd evening tea and two dinners which was costing me more than a crore at the convention centre.
